The Creating Employment Opportunities for Rural Youth in Africa: Integrated Agribusiness Hub (ABH) Programme, operational in nine countries across Africa namely Algeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria and Rwanda, has been instrumental in upskilling and providing support to rural youth to access decent wage and self-employment opportunities. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and initial implementation delays in certain countries, the programme has proved its concept and generated impressive results, supported the upskilling and provision of employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for thousands of rural youth. Programme interventions contribute youth accessing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities often not at their reach. Employers find candidates that match the skillsets they need; in so doing, the programme contributes to socio-economic development and poverty alleviation. Following 4.5 years of operations and having reached a critical mass of target beneficiaries, the programme is well placed to advance its knowledge generation capacity, and influence policy. In this context, the ABH programme organised a Learning and Reflection Forum on June 2024 in Kigali, Rwanda.
